Cross-Country Skiing
Women's pursuit: Beckie Scott, Vermilion, won bronze medal after placing sixth in classical and eighth in freestyle; Sare Renner, Golden, was 19th in final field of 50 (26th in classical, 23rd in freestyle; Milaine Theriault, Canmore, finished 35th overall (24th classical, 40th freestyle); Amanda Fortier, Canmore, was 51st in classical, failed to advance..
Curling
Men: Kevin Martin's Edmonton team beat Geremany 9-7 in seventh draw, then topped Switzerland 7-2 in eighth, raising leading round-robin record to 6-1.
Women: Kelley Law and her Richmond, B.C., team beat Germany 8-4, lifting Canada to a 6-0 record.
Figure Skating
Pairs: Jamie Sale, Red Deer, Alta., and David Pelletier, Sayabec, Que., become co-gold medallists with Russian pair following controversy over judging marks.
Ice dance: Shae-Lynn Bourne, Chatham, Ont., and Victor Krantz, Vancouver, were fourth of 24 couples after two compulsory dances; Marie-France Dubreuil and Patrice Lauzon, both Longueuil, Que., were 11th.
Hockey
Men: Canada lost 5-2 to Sweden in first game to deternube positioning for quarter-finals.
Luge
Men's doubles: Chris Moffat, Calgary, and Eric Pothier, Airdrie, Alta., finished fifth in a field of 19 finalists; Grant Albrecht and Mike Moffat, both Calgary, were 12th.
Snowboarding
Men's parallel giant slalom: Jerome Sylvestre, Bromont, eliminated in round one heats.
