Women: Melanie Turgeon, Quebec City, placed eighth of 39 finalists; Sara-Maude Boucher, St-Denis-de-Brompton, Que., not ranked, did not start; Anne-Marie Lefrancois, Charlesbourg, Que., not ranked, did not finish.
Cross-country Skiing
Women's 10-km classical: Beckie Scott, Vermilion, Alta., placed sixth of 61 finalists; Sara Renner, Golden, B.C., was 15th; Milaine Theriault, Canmore, was 25th; Jaime Fortier, Canmore, finished 47th.
Men's 15-km classical: Donald Farley, Lorraine, wound up 46th in a field of 67.
Curling
Men: Kevin Martin skips Edmonton team to a 9-4 win over Finland in third draw, lifting record to 3-0.
Women: Richmond B.C., team, skipped by Kelley Law, def. Norway 6-5, then beat Russia 7-6, raising Canada's record to 3-0.
Figure Skating
Men singles: Elvis Stojko, Richmond Hill, Ont., was seventh after short program among 29 starters; Emanuel Sandhu, Burnaby, B.C., did not start, injured.
Luge
Women's singles: Regan Lauscher, Red Deer, Alta., was 12th among 29 competitors after two of four runs.

Men's moguls: Scott Bellavance, Prince George, B.C., wound up sixth of 16 finalists; Ryan Johnson, Calgary, was seventh; Stephane Rochon, Montreal, placed 15th; Jean-Luc Brassard, Grande-Ile, Que., was 21st.

Men's 500: Mike Ireland, Winnipeg, finished seventh in a field of 38; Patrick Bouchard, Cap-Rouge, placed 20th; Jeremy Wotherspoon, Red Deer, not ranked.
