Tyler Seitz feels there's nothing better than a good game of golf to prepare for the luge season. Seitz, the veteran of the Canadian squad and headed to his second Olympics, feels a day on the greens can help develop his mental strength.

"Mental toughness is something that is hard to develop," said Seitz. "I feel golf is the best way. You're out there playing 18 holes and one shot can screw up a whole game. You have to have the ability to rebound in golf and put that last shot behind you. It's the same in luge. If you lose concentration or there's a minor screw-up of any sort you have to be able to forget that in a split second and re-focus.

"We reach speeds of up to 145 kilometres and the goal to be as relaxed possible, basically be like Jell-O on the sled. Everything is based on feeling because you can't see where you're going. That's very tough and it is a constant battle to master."

Seitz enjoyed his best season on the World Cup last winter cracking the top-10 twice. His goal at the Olympics is simple: win the race.

"I feel I have a big advantage on the course because I know it very well," said Seitz, whose brother Tracy is the ice chief on the luge course at the Olympic venue. "The last Olympics was a learning experience and now I know what the big show is all about."
