Cheryl Pounder is back stronger than ever in her bid to help Canada win Olympic gold at the 2002 Games. After playing for Canada at the 1994 worlds she was cut from the 1997 world and 1998 Olympic teams. However she has helped Canada to its last three world titles.
She was named Wilfrid Laurier's University athlete of the year for the 1997-98 season and was an Ontario University all star from 1996-1998. She graduated from Laurier in kinesiology.
Her grandfather Phil Wimmer was general manager of the 1968-69 and 1969-70 Memorial Cup champion Montreal Junior Canadiens.

Feb. 21: Canada won gold medal with a 3-2 decision over the U.S. finishing with 5-0 record, while outscoring opponents 35-5.
Feb. 19: Canada def. Finland 7-3 in semifinal play, advancing to Thursday's final against the U.S.
