Yannick Morin has quickly made a name for himself in the bobsleigh world. The plan initially this season with Morin was to develop his pilot skills on the Europa Cup and America's Cup circuit this season. But he impressed so much at the start of the season that now he is headed to the Olympics. He is Canada's number-two pilot behind defending Games champion Pierre Lueders.

Last season he was sixth at the world junior championships and 11th in the Europa Cup standings. This winter he has posted three top-12 results in World Cup competition in the two-man to qualify for the Games. At the season opener in Calgary he was a career-best sixth.

An all-round athlete, he started in competitive acrobatics at age 8, moved on to football in high school and later began a successful career in body building. As a bodybuilder, he won the Canadian championships in Toronto and the natural Mr. Universe competition in Las Vegas in 1998. He first tried bobsleigh at a camp in Lake Placid in 1997 and took his first ride with the Canadian national team in 1999.

When he trained in Montreal, Morin compensated for the lack of facilities by filling a shopping cart full of weighths and pushing it down a high school track.
