Jayna Hefford only earned a single point in the 1998 Olympic tournament. Since then she has developed into one of Canada's best natural scorers. She is best remembered for scoring twice in the third period during the gold medal game at the 2000 world championships which tied the score and forced overtime. Canada went on to beat the U.S., for its sixth world title. During those world Hefford earned eight points in five games. At the previous worlds in 1999 she was Canada's top point-getter with 11 in five games.
She plays in the National Women's Hockey League for the Brampton Thunder and was the league's leading scorer for the 2000-2001 season.
