Kyle Connelly won a race-off over teammate Jeff Christie at the World Cup in Lake Placid in November to earn the seventh and final berth on the Canadian luge team for the 2002 Olympics.

Two 16th place finishes highlighted Connelly's first full season on the World Cup circuit in singles last winter.

"This is a fun sport, there's a real adrenaline rush," said Connelly who started sliding at age eight. "I did a lot of sports but once I did luge it really clicked for me. I was good at it right away."
