Pascal Caron returns from a four-year suspension for testing positive for anabolic steroids. He is refreshed and determined to achieve his
sporting dreams. Caron was a member of the 1994 Olympic bobsleigh team as a crew member for
Pierre Lueders' four-man sled. This year he
hopes to crack the four-man line-up once again on Lueders' four-man team.
"It's a great feeling to be back," he said after the opening World Cup event in Calgary. "It was a really tough four years, but I didn't give up. I am
more confident now than I have ever been. It's also great to be back racing with one of the most accomplished bobsleigh pilots in the world. I
trained hard while I was away, knowing I was going to make a comeback. I love the speed, the sport and the people. My personal goal is to
push for Pierre in the Salt Lake Games in February."
When he wasn't sliding down ice sheets at 120 km/h, Caron was training to become one of Canada's top decathletes in track and field. He then
focused on the 100-metre sprint and was caught in 1996 for doping and suspended. He'll also return to training for sprint and has a goal to
make the 2004 Olympic team for the summer Games in Athens.
"I feel I still have five to six years left in me to excel at a high level in sports," said Caron. "I'm happy to persevere and I feel I have my
confidence back."
