SYDNEY (AP) -- The U.S. canoe and kayak team has its rental car and camera equipment back after thieves broke into their house at the Olympics.
And one team member has his shorts back, too.
The team told police that the car, along with digital cameras, a video camera, a VCR, a computer, sunglasses and clothes were stolen from their rented house near the canoe-kayak venue early Friday.
Police tracked down the car to the backyard of a house, but the suspects got away. With a search warrant, police later entered the house and found the stolen items and arrested three suspects.
One of the trio denied any part in the crime, but the alibi lasted only as long as it took officers to conduct a strip search. Underneath his pants, the suspect was found to be wearing one of the U.S. athlete's team shorts.
