Wyndham St. John has been training in England since 1998. She and Oliver,
her 11-year-old thoroughbred gelding, recently completed the Olympic-level
Badminton three day event in Britain. They have also gained experience
with solid finishes in several three-star events, including an eighth place
at the 1998 Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event. Most recently St. John competed
in the Cornbury Park Advanced Horse Trials on July 22-23, placing
twenty-third from fifty-four entries with a clear cross-country jumping
round.
She began her riding career at Southlands Riding Club in Vancouver at an
early age. Both her mother and grandmother competed in English and Western
divisions while her father was involved in training horses.
From 1979 to 1991, Wyndham put her riding on hold to concentrate on her
studies at the University of California followed by Boston College where
she received her bachelor's degree in nursing. She then specialized in
pediatric bone marrow transplant at the Boston Children's Hospital.
Wyndham married Nicolas Tafuro and settled in Oregon where she worked
part-time in the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at the University of Oregon
Hospital.
