Emilie Livingston is Canada's sole entry in rhythmic gymnastics. In fact
she is the only competitor from the Americas. Her sport is not funded by
Sport Canada and her mother went bankrupt to assure her daughter achieved
her Olympic dream. Livingston started the sport at age 11 after eight
years of dance and artistic gymnastics. She was a member of Canada's gold
medal squad at the 1998 Commonwealth Games.
